Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 1.08% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Dromeas (AT:DROr), which rose 21.50% or 0.023 points to trade at 0.130 at the close. Meanwhile, Centric Hold (AT:DESr) added 10.31% or 0.020 points to end at 0.214 and Halcor (AT:XAKO) was up 4.75% or 0.019 points to 0.400 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr), which fell 13.91% or 0.016 points to trade at 0.099 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) declined 6.82% or 0.009 points to end at 0.123 and Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) was down 5.96% or 0.13 points to 2.05.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 46 to 30 and 2 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.85% or 10.00 to $1187.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.51% or 0.91 to hit $61.05 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.26% or 0.81 to trade at $65.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.56% to 1.1343, while EUR/GBP fell 0.55% to 0.7294.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.72% at 94.48.
