Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Financials and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 8.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr), which rose 19.35% or 0.077 points to trade at 0.475 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 18.70% or 0.023 points to end at 0.146 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 16.83% or 0.17 points to 1.18 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lykos Inform. (AT:LYKr), which fell 6.09% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.56 at the close. Dromeas (AT:DROr) declined 2.31% or 0.003 points to end at 0.127 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) was down 1.40% or 0.003 points to 0.211.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 66 to 9.
Shares in Lykos Inform. (AT:LYKr) fell to all time lows; falling 6.09% or 0.04 to 0.56.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.75% or 8.90 to $1177.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.74% or 1.07 to hit $60.36 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.59% or 1.04 to trade at $64.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.1246, while EUR/GBP fell 0.57% to 0.7250.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 95.11.
