Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food, Household and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 2.59% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Attica Bank (AT:BOAr), which rose 13.33% or 0.008 points to trade at 0.068 at the close. Meanwhile, Terna Energy (AT:TENr) added 11.79% or 0.31 points to end at 2.94 and Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) was up 11.00% or 0.22 points to 2.22 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which fell 5.96% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.221 at the close. Dromeas (AT:DROr) declined 4.41% or 0.006 points to end at 0.130 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) was down 1.11% or 0.006 points to 0.534.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 55 to 22 and 2 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 1.60% or 19.70 to $1207.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.76% or 1.66 to hit $58.58 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.36% or 1.56 to trade at $64.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.66% to 1.1127, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.7178.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.35% at 95.50.
