Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Household and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 2.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 12.86% or 0.018 points to trade at 0.158 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 8.74% or 0.045 points to end at 0.560 and Jumbo SA (AT:BABr) was up 7.41% or 0.860 points to 12.460 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Creta Plastics (AT:PLAKR), which fell 1.74% or 0.090 points to trade at 5.090 at the close. Lamda Develop (AT:LMDr) declined 1.28% or 0.060 points to end at 4.640 and Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) was down 1.12% or 0.002 points to 0.179.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 75 to 19 and 15 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.10% or 1.25 to $1225.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.90% or 0.41 to hit $46.22 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.62% or 0.29 to trade at $47.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.0679, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8581.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 100.47.
