Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food, Retail and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 12.59% or 0.018 points to trade at 0.161 at the close. Meanwhile, Reds (AT:CAMr) added 6.06% or 0.020 points to end at 0.350 and Coca Cola HBC AG (AT:EEEr) was up 3.70% or 0.6700 points to 18.7700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which fell 5.45% or 0.0540 points to trade at 0.9400 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) declined 3.73% or 0.037 points to end at 0.955 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was down 3.55% or 0.010 points to 0.272.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 56 to 40 and 18 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.24% or 15.45 to $1262.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.01% or 0.51 to hit $50.87 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.13% or 0.58 to trade at $52.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.1391, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.7824.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 93.55.
