Investing.com - U.S. stocks are seen opening higher Monday, rebounding after recent losses with the battle for additional fiscal stimulus remaining in the spotlight as the earnings season continues.

At 7 AM ET (1100 GMT),S&P 500 Futures traded 30 points, or 0.9%, higher, the Dow Futures contract rose 221 points, or 0.8%, while Nasdaq 100 Futures climbed 124 points, or 1.1%.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 fell for three straight days last week before closing slightly higher on Friday. The Nasdaq Composite posted its first four-day losing streak since September.

Over the weekend, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave the Trump administration a 48-hour deadline to hammer out differences over new coronavirus stimulus legislation before the 2020 election.

The Senate is set to vote on a limited $300 billion stimulus bill on Wednesday, but this is extremely unlikely to pass the House as the Democrats have rejected bigger numbers in the past as insufficient.

Many countries in Europe, as well as the U.S., are suffering from a new wave in coronavirus infections. Worldwide cases now total over 40 million, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, with one-day increases above 400,000 for the first time.

There was some good news on this subject, as the Sunday Times newspaper reported that the U.K.’s deputy chief medical officer told the country’s lawmakers that stage three trials of the vaccine created at Oxford University and being manufactured by AstraZeneca (NYSE:AZN) mean a mass rollout is on the horizon as early as December.

Away from this, earnings season picks up pace this week, with 80 S&P 500 companies set to report. IBM (NYSE:IBM) is scheduled to release its latest quarterly results after the bell on Monday, while Halliburton (NYSE:HAL) provided a glimpse into the travails of the energy sector with a fourth straight quarterly loss.

Data from China, released earlier Monday, showed the second largest economy bounced back even further in the third quarter, as the country's GDP increased by 4.9 percent between July and September of this year.

Oil prices slipped Monday, with the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies due to meet later in the day to assess the state of the market. While no supply decisions are expected at this point, the group is under pressure to revise its plan to increase supply by 1.9 million barrels a day in January.

U.S. crude futures traded 0.4% lower at $40.95 a barrel, while the international benchmark Brent contract fell 0.4% to $42.76.

Elsewhere, gold futures traded 0.6% higher at $1,917.15/oz, while EUR/USD traded 0.4% higher at 1.1768.

Please pass a stimulus bill so Charles Payne can pump the market some more
It would seem that those of us who didn't believe the Trump and his senate were going to spend a nickel on stimulus, and that they were doing what they've always done when it comes to spending some of our tax dollars on health insurance, stimulus or anything else but big business, which is making the SAME empty promises they've been making for DECADES. Right now they need this election badly, but not badly enough to spend a nickel on people hurting. So funny that they are trying to put THEIR failure to pass a stimulus bill on the dems who PASSED it 6 months ago... It was never going to happen in the senate for ANY amount of money.
heh heh heh, you bet stimulus talks are going on.... Trumps not looking so good. and Puerto Rico isn't getting paper towels throw at them any more either, and suddenly trump is talking about better medical care instead of how to get rid of it altogether. These politicians just ********me. but the people who BELIEVE them, are so much worse.
Pelosi would not have set a deadline if she weren’t ready to compromise. A stimulus deal will be reached by tomorrow.
I hope you are right Bill.
I can't believe you're still listening to these lies Bill. Neither Pelosi or McConnell are willing to give Trump this accomplishment. The big rescue will come after Biden wins the election.
How people believe that TRUMP and republicans are more likely to bail out the little guy with more stimulus, than the democrats is just beyond me. After all isn't the ONE thing both parties are in agreement on is that the dems ALWAYS spend money on the little guy?
Stimulus hope based economy... When will the world wake up.
Euronext halted trading for hours earlier today. Nothing? Nobody? Hello?
Pelosi insults the people of the United States I denying them promised help
There are no communist countries my friend, and there never were. In communism EVERYBODY is equal, and they all share the wealth equally. That doesn't sound like ANY country I know of in the last few centuries, and centanly NOT the soviet union or china -EVER. those names are just boogeymen the ultra rich invents to scare the little guy into protecting their wealth and power for them.
Yes after all the generous republicans passed a HUGE stimulus bill back in July and stingy ol Pelosi has been making excuses to block it every since.... is that the story you're trying to sell us?
i'm just trolling my west friends who hate communists. Of course people are equal, because any talent you may have exists due to the society
Pelosi is just playing games
The dems PASSED stimulus 6 months ago! the republicans REFUSED to and made every excuse in the book for it. and its the DEMS that are playing games? the republicans would never have agreed to give 10 more cents in stimulus after it didn't buy them anything the last time. Get serious.
Bull trap. Powel speech begins soon, dollar will rise. China recovery worst than expected and still this guys are promoting it as good news...
China enforcing untested vaccine is leading to no good. But communism is about promoting *****as good news 😀
Plus that the stimulus is very unlikely to be approved before election. This can mean that the congress is doing a favor to the current president. Which means that it may give him an advantage. This is not fair, elections should take place and stimulus should come after.
Pelosi 😴💤💤💤
