Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 1.77% or 0.51 points to trade at 29.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) added 1.62% or 1.75 points to end at 109.85 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was up 1.56% or 1.65 points to 107.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delhaize Group (BR:DELB), which fell 1.51% or 1.41 points to trade at 91.89 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) declined 0.77% or 0.95 points to end at 123.00 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was down 0.61% or 0.21 points to 34.78.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 82 to 62 and 11 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.48% or 5.90 to $1227.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.94% or 1.16 to hit $38.23 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.47% or 1.01 to trade at $39.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.1212, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.7844.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 95.81.
