 US CFTC to Seek Ethereum (ETH) Input in Public Consultation

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has announced a plan for public consultation on the third-largest cryptocurrency, Ethereum (ETH). The regulator said on Tuesday it wanted information about the ETH opportunities, challenges, and risks.

The CFTC initiative has two main focuses: ETH itself and a comparison with Bitcoin (BTC). The regulator is interested in the Ethereum technology, use cases, markets, and decentralized applications (dApps) and also wants to understand the similarities and differences between the two cryptocurrencies.

“The input from this request will advance the CFTC’s mission of ensuring the integrity of the derivatives markets as well as monitoring and reducing systemic risk by enhancing legal certainty in the markets,” the CFTC <...>
