Who really is Satoshi Nakamoto? This question has been at the forefront of every crypto-enthusiast’s mind for over a decade now. Since the creation of Bitcoin back in 2009, countless individuals have been identified as the ‘real’ face behind this elusive character, with the most popular recurring names to date including Craig Wright, Hal Finney, Nick Szabo, and an American-Japanese man named Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto.
So far however, none of these candidates have been conclusively proven to be Nakamoto and the hunt continues to find the phantom behind the crypto revolution.
On June 29, another anonymous spectre arose, claiming to be the real Satoshi Nakamoto, and released a lengthy teaser about Bitcoin’s history in development, how he became involved with the Cypherpunks and how he will reveal his true identity in his new book.
“the truth is one that people will not come to expect. Because the truth is too special to give away, requires a long answer, which will be in the book.”
The excerpt was posted on ‘NakamotoFamilyFoundation.org’, a new domain that caused a stir when it was purchased from Amazon’s registrar earlier that week. Among the cryptic clues and convoluted sentences, the writer does outline particular aspects of his - “Satoshi Nakamoto’s” - life, including his earlier role as a university lab researcher and his place of residency somewhere along the east coast of the United States.
Many critics are still not convinced, however, and have already taken to social media to dispel this new evidence as another hoax; remarking on it as a book-marketing stunt filled with numerous grammatical errors.
With so many scrutinizing eyes fixated on this particular conspiracy, the bar for being accepted as the original Bitcoin creator is exceptionally high.
If this is true though, this will be the first time the community has heard from the enigmatic founder of the cryptocurrency industry in years and would mark a monumental moment in the industry’s history as the veil is finally lifted on the person(s) who first started this revolutionary technology.
