Mexican Senator Indira Kempis Martínez has been an advocate of Bitcoin for over a year. Earlier this month, Kempis Martínez visited El Salvador and considered the possibility of Bitcoin bein installed as a legal tender in Mexico as well.

In October 2021, the senator congratulated El Salvador on its decision to make Bitcoin a national currency, as valid as the dollar. She openly disagreed with the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who denounced the decision, declaring that it would not happen in Mexico.

“Laws are the last to find out about reality. The future reaches out and overtakes. I have proof, and I have no doubts.”

  • CriptoNoticias reported that Kempis Martínez had questioned why the Mexican government was reluctant to be more involved in financial innovations.
  • The Mexican senator also believes that the adoption of Bitcoin in Mexico could help to end inequality.
