Digital art luminary Mike Tyka has joined the non-fungible token (NFT) bandwagon, as he became the latest artist to mint NFTs containing his art collection on a Tezos-based marketplace.
According to information obtained by CoinQuora, Tyka has chosen the marketplace Hic et Nunc, which translates as “Here and Now”, for the collection.
Specifically, Tyka released his renowned collection “Portraits of Imaginary People” on March 15. These digital art masterpieces appeared during exhibitions at Christie’s in New York and at the New Museum in Japan.
While Ethereum remains the popular option for NFTs, a number of artists have started looking for more energy-efficient options. Hence, Tezos-based Hic et Nunc has shown it is a solid choice. Examples of these include Sotheby’s first AI artist Mario Klingemann, climate activist Joanie Lemercier, and Bell Labs former software engineer Helena Sarin.
Interestingly, Tyka appears to have been acquainted with some of the people mentioned above. Hence, he chose Hic et Nunc to reduce his “personal climate footprint at the click of a button.”
Tyka added,
After discovering some recommended alternatives, I felt that if I’m going to enter this space, I want to support what I see as the only practical and ethical future of NFTs. . . I look forward to exploring more upcoming PoS marketplaces.
Tyka is a renowned AI art pioneer. He is the Co-Founder of the Artists and Machine Intelligence (AMI) program at Google. His works include some of the earliest deep neural net artworks using General Adversarial Networks and DeepDream.
