Investment Strategy

The investment seeks to provide, consistent with prudent portfolio management, the highest level of income exempt from federal and Maryland state and local income taxes by investing primarily in investment-grade Maryland municipal bonds. The fund invests so that, under normal market conditions, at least 80% of its net assets (including any borrowings for investment purposes) are invested in bonds that pay interest exempt from federal and Maryland state and local income taxes, and at least 80% of the fund's income is expected to be exempt from federal and Maryland state and local income taxes. It is non-diversified.

Biography	Hugh McGuirk is a vice president of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc., and T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., and a portfolio manager in the Fixed Income Division. He is head of the Municipal Bond team and a member of the Fixed Income Steering Committee. Hugh is president of the Summit Municipal Funds, the State Tax-Free Income Trust Funds, and the California Tax-Free Income Trust Funds. He also is portfolio manager and chairman of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Georgia, Maryland, and Virginia Tax-Free Bond Funds. Prior to joining the firm in 1993, Hugh was an assistant vice president and municipal underwriter at Alex. Brown & Sons in Baltimore. He earned a B.S. in applied mathematics from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Hugh also has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He is past president of the Municipal Bond Club of Baltimore and a member of the Baltimore CFA Society.
