Investment Strategy

The investment seeks long-term capital appreciation over market cycles with lower volatility than the broad equity market. To pursue its investment objective, the fund establishes long and short positions in equity securities issued by U.S. companies. It will invest at least 80% of its net assets (including, for this purpose, any borrowings for investment purposes) in equity securities issued by U.S. companies; typically, the actual percentage will be higher. The fund typically purchases or sells short stocks of companies that have market capitalizations of $1 billion or more at the time the stock is purchased or sold short.
