Investment Strategy

The investment seeks high current income exempt from federal and New York income tax; capital appreciation is a secondary objective. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its assets in debt securities whose interest is, in the opinion of bond counsel for the issuer at the time of issuance, exempt from regular federal income tax and New York income tax ("New York Municipal Bonds"). It may invest without limitation in "private activity" bonds whose interest is a tax-preference item for purposes of the federal alternative minimum tax ("AMT"). The fund may invest in derivative instruments. It is non-diversified.

Previously he was Managing Director, Head of Tax-Exempt Investments for Smith Barney/Citigroup Asset Management from 1993 to 2005. Earlier in his career, he held senior portfolio management positions with Shearson and E.F. Hutton. Morningstar named him Fixed-Income Manager of the Year in 1996 and a finalist in 1995 and 2007. He holds a bachelor's degree from Iona College.

Biography	Ehlert has been affiliated with Pacific Investment Management Company since the firm was founded in 1971. He is currently executive vice president of the firm. His career has included experience in investment banking and venture-capital management. He also served as an investment department head of Pacific Mutual. His 37 years of investment experience includes both fixed income and equity markets. Ehlert holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
