The Fund provides exposure to a concentrated portfolio of Australian equities through securities listed, or expected to be listed, on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). Biography Scot is the Co-Head of the Macquarie Systematic Investments equities team. Scot’s responsibilities include the day to day management of the global portfolios, oversight of the trading function, development of new strategies and client engagement. Previously Scot was the equities Head of Product, responsible for product design, development and client relationships for the Australian and Global equities product range. Before this Scot was a member of the private equity fund-of-fund and performance analytics teams. Derek completed his Bachelor of Science degree at James Cook University, has qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and is a CFA Charterholder.

Biography Ben is the Co-Head of the Macquarie Systematic Investments equities team. In addition to the day to day management of the portfolios, Ben is also the Head of Research where he is responsible for managing the research agenda. Ben joined Listed Equities in 2005 as a quantitative analyst where his responsibilities included the development and maintenance of various quantitative models. Following his successful efforts to expand the quantitative capability to international markets, he formed the foundation of the current systematic investment approach. In 2012, Ben and Scot joined together to create the Systematic Investment team to focus exclusively on developing this capability and bringing the benefits to the market place. Prior to joining, he worked as a software engineer for Macquarie’s technology division in Sydney.

Biography Monique joined Macquarie in 1998 and is part of the Australian equity Portfolio Management team which oversees the management of the active Australian equity strategies. Monique is the lead Portfolio Manager for the Australian REITs and index strategies. Her responsibilities include the day to day management of the indexed and REIT portfolios. Monique is also the lead for the Systematic Investment’s team ESG and Investment Stewardship activities. Previously, Monique was Head of Dealing for the Equities team, performing all the dealing functions including trading, portfolio administration and performance attribution. Monique has completed her Bachelor of Business (Finance) at UTS.
Andrew Kovacs - 2009 2022
Biography Andrew has been with Macquarie Investment Management since 2009. He is a co-Portfolio Manager of the High Conviction Fund and also provides analytical coverage of the consumer sector. Prior to joining Macquarie Funds Group Andrew led the Macquarie Securities food and beverages sector research team. He was voted the No.1 F&B sector analyst in the Peter Lee institutional investor survey from 2006-2008. Before joining Macquarie Andrew held a range of roles giving him significant experience in the food and beverage and retail industry including business development, marketing and analyst roles for Jack Daniel’s, Smith’s Crisps, Goodman Fielder, and Mars Confectionary.

Biography Blake is the Deputy Managing Director at Firetrail as well as Portfolio Manager for the Firetrail Australian High Conviction Fund. Blake’s primary sector responsibilities are Resources, Oil and REITs. Blake has over 20 years’ experience investing in equity markets. Prior to joining Firetrail, Blake spent 12 years at Macquarie Group where he was Co-Lead Portfolio Manager of the Macquarie High Conviction Fund. Blake holds a Bachelor of Mathematics and Finance (First Class Honours) from the University of Wollongong (Australia). Blake is also a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
Patrick Hodgens - 2005 2022
Biography Patrick Hodgens is a Managing Director at Firetrail as well as a Portfolio Manager ofthe Fund. Patrick has significant industry experience working in equity markets since 1985 and managing long /short equity funds since 2005. Prior to joining Firetrail, Patrick was an Executive Director and Head of Listed Equities at Macquarie Group. Patrick wasresponsible for a team of over 40 investment professionals based in Sydney and Hong Kong, managing in excess of A$18 billion. Patrick was also the Co-Lead Portfolio Manager for the Macquarie High Conviction Fund (long only), the Macquarie Pure Alpha Fund (Market Neutral) and the Macquarie Australian Plus Fund (Long/Short). Patrick joined Macquarie Group in 1989 with the acquisition of Risk Averse Money Managers, where he played a key role in establishing it as one of the first ful lservice boutique equities manager in the Australian market.
