The Fund seeks to achieve capital appreciation and income growth by mainly investing in an actively managed portfolio of dividend-paying emerging market securities. The portfolio will consist principally of quoted equity securities, issued by companies established or operating in emerging market countries, principally in Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

Biography Mark is the Lead Manager of the MI Somerset Asia Income Fund, Co-Manager of the MI Somerset Emerging Markets Dividend Growth Fund and is a senior partner at Somerset Capital Management, sitting on Somerset’s Executive Committee. He joined Somerset Capital in 2020 from Liontrust Investment Partners where he was Head of Asia Pacific Equities and Lead Manager of the Asia Income Fund, which was launched in 2012. Prior to Liontrust he specialised in Asian equity mandates at Occam and F&C where he ran the flagship Asia Pacific Growth Funds. Mark has worked continuously in investment management since 1993.

Biography Kumar is the Co-Manager of the MI Somerset Emerging Markets Dividend Growth Fund and a senior partner and member of the Executive Committee at Somerset Capital. He has expertise across EM and particularly in Latin America, EMEA and Frontier Markets. Kumar joined Somerset Capital in 2011 and became a Partner in 2014. He has over a decade of EM experience and his previous roles include Head of Latin America and Assistant Manager of the Somerset Frontier Markets Strategy.

Biography Edward is the Lead Manager of the Global EM and Mid Cap products and manages the investment team. He worked in Hong Kong and London before joining Lloyd George Management in 1999 where, along with Jacob Rees-Mogg, he built the Emerging Market products. He also ran the top performing Russian Fund – SIBINCo. He co-founded Somerset Capital along with Jacob Rees-Mogg and Dominic Johnson in April 2007. Edward graduated from the University of East Anglia.

Biography Edward is the Manager of the DG product. He joined Somerset when it was founded in 2007 to cover EMEA. He was instrumental in helping to build the smaller companies fund at Somerset. He was Head of Research at Somerset from 2008-2015 during which time he managed and built the research process. Before joining Somerset, he was a senior analyst at Lloyd George, covering Asia for GEM mandates and Taiwan. Edward graduated from Downing College, Cambridge, where he read History.
