Investment Strategy

This Sub-Fund aims to maximize total returns by investing primarily in fixed income / debt securities issued in the Emerging Markets Worldwide that are rated or not rated. This Sub-Fund may invest up to 20% of its net assets in ABS, MBS, Contingent Convertible Bonds (“CoCos”), Distressed Securities and Defaulted Securities, with a limit of 10% for Distressed Securities and Defaulted Securities combined. In addition, this Sub-Fund may invest up to 10% of its net assets in synthetic fixed income instruments (including credit-linked notes). It may also hold up to 10% of its net assets in equity securities to the extent that such securities result from the conversion or exchange of a preferred stock or debt obligation. This Sub-Fund may make investments up to 10% of its net assets in Chinese onshore debt securities through QFII/RQFII and/or China Hong Kong Bond Connect (“Bond Connect”).

Biography Eric Fang is a Portfolio Manager in the Fixed Income team and lead portfolio manager of the Global Emerging Markets Bond strategy. He is also responsible for fixed maturity products as well as managing selected credit-focused portfolios. Eric joined Eastspring Investments in November 2007. Prior to joining Eastspring Investments, he was a Senior Analyst with AmInvestment Management where he carried out credit research and was responsible for managing fixed income and balanced funds. Prior to that, he was a Senior Fixed Income Analyst with KAF Investment Bank where he was responsible for buy and sell side credit research and strategy. Eric has 18 years of investment experience. Before joining UOB AM, Peng was the Head of Fixed Income at Fullerton Fund Management Company from July 2003 to September 2005.

Biography David Lai is an Investment Director with the fixed income team at Eastspring Investments Singapore having joined the company in 2009. He is the lead manager for Asian and Emerging Markets hard currency fixed income portfolios. Prior to joining Eastspring Singapore, he was a fixed income Portfolio Manager with Aberdeen Asset Management. Before that, he worked in various positions in fixed income credit research with HSBC Asset Management, Société Générale Asia and Daiwa Securities. David holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
