US stock futures are higher this morning, as investors are awaiting economic data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 44 points to 13,045.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 3.90 points to 1,384.40. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 11 points to 2,646.75.
US stocks closed mostly lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.02% to 13,073.01, the S&P 500 index falling 0.05% to 1,385.30 and the Nasdaq 100 index dipping 0.41% to 2,945.84.
Data on personal income for June will be released at 8:30 am ET. However, the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index for May will be released at 9:00 am ET. Data on consumer confidence for July will be released at 10:00 am ET.
Thomson Reuters (NYSE: TRI) is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.50 on revenue of $3.21 billion. Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.54 per share on revenue of $14.93 billion.
The Allstate (NYSE: ALL) is estimated to report its Q2 EPS at $0.51 on revenue of $6.82 billion. Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.59 per share on revenue of $21.85 billion. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co (NYSE: GT) is estimated to report its Q2 EPS at $0.45 on revenue of $5.74 billion.
United States Steel (NYSE: X) is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.47 on revenue of $4.99 billion. Fresh Del Monte Produce (NYSE: FDP) is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.91 on revenue of $1.01 billion. Coach (NYSE: COH) is estimated to report its Q4 EPS at $0.85 on revenue of $1.20 billion.
Seagate Technologies (NASDAQ: STX) reported weaker-than-expected fourth-quarter results and issued downbeat fiscal-first quarter revenue forecast.
Dendreon (NASDAQ: DNDN) announced its plans to lower around 600 jobs and close its Morris Plains, NJ, manufacturing facility.
European markets were mixed today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.08%, French CAC 40 index rose 0.28%. London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.17% and German DAX 30 index gained 0.48%.
Asian markets ended mostly higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 0.69%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.30% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 0.53%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 1.08% and India's Sensex jumped 0.54%.
Crude for September delivery rose 0.16% to trade at $89.92 a barrel on the NYMEX. Gold futures surged $5 to $1,624.70 an ounce.
The ICE dollar index (DXY) dropped 0.15% to 82.71, versus 82.829 in late North American trading on Monday.
The euro gained 0.3% versus the dollar to trade at $1.2290. However, the US dollar rose 0.1% versus the Japanese yen to trade at ¥78.235.
