Inflation in Great Britain accelerated to 3.5% in March. This is reading is up from 3.4% the February.
Inflation was up 0.3 percent on a monthly basis, in line with forecasts and the annual 3.4 percent print. The Bank of England's inflation target is currently 2%.
Argentina To Nationalize Its Energy Company
Repsol YPFSA is not happy with the announcement that Argentina will nationalize the company.
Repsol said its 57.4% ownership of the Argentine energy company is worth nearly $10.5 billion, and the company as a whole is worth at least $18.3 billion.
Last night, the Argentine government said they would nationalize YPF, removing Repsol as primary owner.
Repsol called the move "unlawful," "gravely discriminatory.”
Repsol also said the nationalization of this company "violates the trust of the international investment community."
The EU Inflation Rate Prints At 2.7%
The eurozone’s annual inflation came in at 2.7%. This print was unchanged from the previous month but revised up from 2.6%.
The European Central Bank's inflation target was just below 2%.
The bank believes inflation will be just above its target due to rising energy prices.
