Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Media, Basic Materials and Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 1.86%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were TVN SA (WA:TVN), which rose 8.40% or 1.48 points to trade at 19.10 at the close. Meanwhile, KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) added 4.98% or 5.50 points to end at 116.00 and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) was up 4.49% or 0.83 points to 19.31 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP), which fell 2.52% or 0.15 points to trade at 5.80 at the close. Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) declined 2.31% or 1.65 points to end at 69.85 and Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) was down 1.88% or 1.30 points to 68.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 304 to 254 and 102 ended unchanged.
Shares in TVN SA (WA:TVN) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 8.40% or 1.48 to 19.10. Shares in Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) fell to 3-years lows; losing 2.31% or 1.65 to 69.85.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.83% or 0.50 to $60.64 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.44% or 0.28 to hit $65.17 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.80% or 9.40 to trade at $1187.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.93% to 4.1373, while USD/PLN fell 1.15% to 3.6589.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 94.70.
