Celebrating 9 Years of Innovation and Collaboration: The Story of Robot Wealth

Robot Wealth (RW), a dedicated trading and education company based in Western Australia, celebrates nine years of empowering retail traders by democratizing access to trading education. RW has helped over a thousand graduates of its Trade Like a Quant Bootcamp to learn the fundamentals of getting an edge in the financial markets. This initiative aligns with the mission of its founder, Kris Longmore, a self-taught systematic trader. He started Robot Wealth as a blog, hoping to put countless hours of study and experience to good use. Kris documented his research on the RW blog to share his findings and connect with like-minded individuals with the same passion for trading.

The founder then crossed paths with James Hodges, a finance veteran with 18 years of trading experience. The two naturally bonded over their shared passion for trading and similar philosophical approaches to life. They combined their complementary skill sets to shape RW's trajectory. Besides his extensive market knowledge, James' ability to explain complex trading concepts in layperson's terms made him an invaluable addition to Robot Wealth.

Kris and James, determined to help traders enhance their skills and successfully navigate systematic trading, developed Trade Like a Quant Bootcamp, which is open to the public twice a year.

Participants learn the fundamentals of getting an edge in the market and the course focuses on a simple yet high-probability approach to trading - picking the right games. The “right games” are ones based on economically sensible, quantifiable market edges that don’t typically see competition from the big players. These “right games” also need to be manageable by the part-time trader, since most independent traders also have a job or study.

Putting aside the education component of the business, when asked what differentiates RW in its trading activities, Kris remarks, "I think it all boils down to flexibility. We've done trades on opposite extremes, depending on what opportunities were available. That means trading high-frequency latency arbitrage in crypto and slow-moving seasonality trades in US ETFs [exchange-traded funds]."

Its earning model, which emphasizes shared profits among its traders, also makes Robot Wealth stand out.
