CuraeSoft’s Performance Appraisal Functionality for coAmplifi vHQ Platform Enables More Objective Management

coAmplifi’s appraisal module gives businesses a more structured and more objective way to evaluate their employee's performance, especially in a remote or hybrid work environment.

Performance appraisal is a vital component of managing an organization’s employees, highlighting the individual’s strengths and weaknesses and allowing both parties to engage in constructive dialogue on how to improve performance and contribute to organization-wide success.

However, there are numerous challenges in this area, such as recency bias, where managers are only able to recall the employee’s most recent performance, rather than for the entire quarter or year. An employee may have performed excellently for most of the year, but if they hit a rough patch just before the appraisal session, it affects how their performance for the entire year is viewed. This can be unfair to both the employee and the organization, as the appraisal is unable to provide an accurate and objective picture of their performance.

Both the employee and the evaluator have some degree of anxiety around the appraisal process, with the former uncertain whether they’re doing well, and the latter not being able to provide an evaluation that encompasses the entirety of the employee’s performance.

To help address these issues, California-based software developer CuraeSoft has implemented an employee review and appraisal module for its coAmplifi platform, enabling better tracking of performance, especially in remote and hybrid work environments.

One of the module’s features allows an employee’s entire vertical chain of command, such as supervisors, managers, department heads, directors, and C-suite, to place four different-colored flags on the employee’s activities or work profile, each symbolizing a different evaluation of their performance. The green flag recognizes excellent performance, while the blue and yellow flags denote a point of reference and a point of guidance, respectively. The red flag identifies an urgent point of concern, such as a significant error or violation of company policy.

The appraisal module is able to collect and display a large amount of data about an employee’s performance, giving them a view of how they’re performing in comparison to their peers, as well as displaying the areas where they’re performing well and where they need improvement. It also provides structure to the appraisal process, rating the employee on how well they fit the job description, how they meet delivery criteria, and how they fit the company culture.

According to CuraeSoft Founder and CEO Mark Parinas, the appraisal module enables businesses to be in a better position when coaching employees, deciding for promotions, raises, and other employee development actions. It also provides a quantitative metric for performance improvement plans and other similar initiatives, promoting accountability across the organization and mitigating risk of wrongful dismissal suits.

“Evaluations have always been a dreadful experience for both employee and manager,” Parinas says. “We created this feature in coAmplifi to make evaluations easier and more objective for all parties involved. It puts both employee and evaluator on a level playing field, reducing stress for both of them and eliminates the need for the employee to be defensive about their performance.”

The review module is yet another enhancement of the coAmplifi platform, which operates on the concept of creating a functioning virtual headquarters, allowing companies to effectively manage their employees in a decentralized workplace.

“Post-pandemic, employers have been pushing to get everybody back in the same building, to the dismay of many employees,” Parinas adds. “We know that most employers are doing this not because they want to coop up their employees, but because they don't have the means to manage them effectively in a remote or hybrid environment. coAmplifi does that in a way that uncages the workforce in the future of work.”
