Objectives:
As clearing and settlement continues to evolve, so too its impact on the operations function through both new practices but also, increasingly, in terms of regulation, risk and reputation.

This workshop will review the roles of clearing houses, central counterparties, central securities depositories and custodians, as well as the impact on the workflow and procedures in the operations function at banks, brokers and institutions. Examples include Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Philippines and Malaysia. The changes that are taking place in the industry are explored and the impact for operations managers and supervisors assessed.

About Your Workshop Leader:

Sean Ring, Trainer, 7City
After graduating from Villanova University and a brief stint at Paine Webber, Inc., Sean joined Lehman Brothers as a financial analyst for corporate equity derivatives, responsible for hedge, swap and cash reconciliations of all equity swap books.

In 1999, he joined Credit Suisse Financial Products as a trader operations specialist. Working with OTC traders, Sean acquired vast product knowledge of fixed income and equity OTC derivatives, and risk awareness of the operations process. His other roles at Credit Suisse included front office business support dealing with fixed income and equity futures, FX, Eurobonds, US corporate bonds etc. As a futures broker, he covered hedge funds and midsize European financial institutions and his last position at Credit Suisse was Vice President, Listed Derivatives.

Sean now passes on his expertise in training courses towards the CFA qualification, designing and delivering a range of technical finance training courses and graduate programmes for central banks, regulators, investments banks, commercial banks, and asset managers globally.
