Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil and Gas, Mining and Power sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the RTSI rose 0.97%, while the MICEX index gained 1.81%.

The best performers of the session on the RTSI were Lukoil (MCX:LKOH), which rose 4.47% or 117.1 points to trade at 2736.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) added 4.36% or 1.430 points to end at 34.250 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) was up 3.97% or 0.0025 points to 0.0652 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY), which fell 4.29% or 16.80 points to trade at 375.10 at the close. Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) declined 2.91% or 280.0 points to end at 9330.0 and Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST) was down 2.36% or 25.0 points to 1035.0.

The top performers on the MICEX were Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) which rose 4.47% to 2736.0, Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) which was up 4.36% to settle at 34.250 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) which gained 3.97% to close at 0.0652.

The worst performers were DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) which was down 4.29% to 375.10 in late trade, Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) which lost 2.91% to settle at 9330.0 and Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST) which was down 2.36% to 1035.0 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 87 to 56 and 4 ended unchanged.

Gold for February delivery was up 1.08% or 13.70 to $1278.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in February rose 3.07% or 1.42 to hit $47.67 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 2.39% or 1.16 to trade at $49.42 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 0.38% to 65.148, while EUR/RUB fell 1.30% to 74.887.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.77% at 93.22.
