Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Technology and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 2.38%, while the MDAX index lost 1.96%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.54%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn), which fell 0.82% or 1.350 points to trade at 162.450 at the close. Meanwhile, Beiersdorf AG O.N. (XETRA:BEIG) fell 1.21% or 0.890 points to end at 72.890 and Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) was down 1.52% or 1.420 points to 91.880 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG), which fell 3.36% or 0.650 points to trade at 18.675 at the close. Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN) declined 3.22% or 3.900 points to end at 117.050 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) was down 3.13% or 0.305 points to 9.449.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which rose 0.11% to 64.610, Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which was up 0.07% to settle at 6.760 and Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 58.161.
The worst performers were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was down 4.75% to 65.720 in late trade, Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which lost 3.91% to settle at 26.690 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 3.65% to 12.525 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which fell 0.61% to 3.110, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which was down 0.72% to settle at 23.555 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which lost 1.14% to close at 5.635.
The worst performers were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was down 6.80% to 48.000 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which lost 5.93% to settle at 184.850 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 5.34% to 32.915 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 578 to 97 and 39 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.20% to 29.94 a new 3-years high.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.64% or 7.30 to $1139.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 7.80% or 3.84 to hit $45.36 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 8.64% or 4.68 to trade at $49.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.70% to 1.1291, while EUR/GBP rose 0.94% to 0.7376.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.50% at 95.47.
