Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.96%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Technology and Construction sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.96% to hit a new 3-months low, while the MDAX index declined 1.31%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.57%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG), which rose 0.75% or 0.430 points to trade at 57.780 at the close. Meanwhile, Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) added 0.55% or 0.550 points to end at 100.950 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) was down 0.22% or 0.170 points to 76.330 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which fell 4.99% or 1.935 points to trade at 36.870 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) declined 4.57% or 1.045 points to end at 21.815 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) was down 3.74% or 0.420 points to 10.805.

The top performers on the MDAX were A.Springer AG VNA (XETRA:SPRGn) which rose 2.18% to 48.320, Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which was up 2.05% to settle at 25.85 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which gained 1.30% to close at 21.040.

The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 6.14% to 29.900 in late trade, Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which lost 4.15% to settle at 40.06 and Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was down 4.14% to 50.260 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which rose 5.86% to 34.025, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was up 2.04% to settle at 50.100 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which gained 1.71% to close at 8.195.

The worst performers were Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which was down 4.56% to 36.440 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which lost 4.49% to settle at 3.467 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 3.24% to 30.285 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 537 to 205 and 37 ended unchanged.

Shares in Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.49% or 0.163 to 3.467.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 26.64.

Gold for August delivery was down 0.93% or 10.80 to $1155.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.75% or 0.93 to hit $52.08 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.97% or 0.56 to trade at $56.60 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.77% to 1.0971, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.7103.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.64% at 97.05.
