Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Retail and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.03%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.17%, and the TecDAX index added 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which rose 2.19% or 1.890 points to trade at 88.140 at the close. Meanwhile, Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 1.78% or 2.350 points to end at 134.150 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 1.36% or 0.155 points to 11.575 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn), which fell 2.18% or 3.650 points to trade at 163.450 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) declined 0.76% or 0.590 points to end at 77.010 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was down 0.71% or 0.480 points to 67.020.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which rose 3.14% to 46.445, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was up 2.93% to settle at 26.35 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which gained 2.49% to close at 28.555.
The worst performers were Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was down 1.54% to 12.110 in late trade, RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which lost 0.95% to settle at 80.340 and Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (DE:RHKG) which was down 0.92% to 27.490 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 2.59% to 259.800, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 1.28% to settle at 28.085 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (DE:JENG) which gained 0.86% to close at 14.705.
The worst performers were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 6.77% to 36.950 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 2.55% to settle at 34.185 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 2.02% to 49.430 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 499 to 358 and 33 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.59% or 6.550 to 259.800.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.15% to 20.63.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.00% or 0.05 to $1214.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.35% or 0.17 to hit $49.18 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.64% or 0.32 to trade at $50.04 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1153, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7733.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 95.51.
