Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Software and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.15%, while the MDAX index added 0.42%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.29%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p), which rose 2.77% or 15.400 points to trade at 571.800 at the close. Meanwhile, Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) added 1.85% or 4.10 points to end at 225.85 and Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) was up 1.73% or 0.830 points to 48.880 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG), which fell 3.06% or 2.18 points to trade at 68.99 at the close. Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) declined 2.38% or 2.44 points to end at 100.06 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was down 2.35% or 1.280 points to 53.130.
The top performers on the MDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 7.55% to 44.580, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was up 3.75% to settle at 109.400 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 2.82% to close at 182.300.
The worst performers were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which was down 3.21% to 5.675 in late trade, AUTO1 Group SE (DE:AG1G) which lost 3.07% to settle at 20.84 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which was down 2.54% to 6.405 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 7.55% to 44.580, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was up 3.75% to settle at 109.400 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 2.82% to close at 182.300.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.65% to 32.465 in late trade, Siemens Healthineers AG (DE:SHLG) which lost 0.85% to settle at 65.00 and 11 AG (DE:1U1) which was down 0.74% to 24.080 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 397 to 312 and 70 ended unchanged.
Shares in Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.06% or 2.18 to 68.99. Shares in AUTO1 Group SE (DE:AG1G) fell to all time lows; down 3.07% or 0.66 to 20.84.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.56% to 21.48.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.39% or 6.85 to $1765.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.13% or 0.09 to hit $70.64 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.08 to trade at $73.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1258, while EUR/GBP rose 0.21% to 0.8519.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 96.585.
