Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Energy and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 fell 1.13%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Ozforex Grp (ASX:OFX), which rose 12.39% or 0.280 points to trade at 2.540 at the close. Meanwhile, Kathmandu Holdings Ltd (ASX:KMD) added 8.94% or 0.135 points to end at 1.645 and Paladin Energy Ltd (ASX:PDN) was up 5.88% or 0.010 points to 0.180 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Downer Edi Ltd (ASX:DOW), which fell 11.35% or 0.520 points to trade at 4.060 at the close. Genworth Fp (ASX:GMA) declined 10.26% or 0.360 points to end at 3.150 and Syrah Res F (ASX:SYR) was down 7.91% or 0.285 points to 3.320.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 562 to 429 and 168 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 6.48% to 16.445.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.02% or 0.20 to $1085.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.41% or 0.18 to hit $44.97 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.01 to trade at $49.58 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.37% to 0.7329, while AUD/JPY fell 0.40% to 91.49.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 97.91.
