Russian Federation stocks mixed at close of trade

Investing.com – Russian Federation stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecom, Oil and Gas and Manufacturing sectors led shares higher while losses in the Power, Mining and Manufacturing sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the RTSI fell 3.89%, while the MICEX index climbed 2.77%.

The best performers of the session on the RTSI were RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR), which rose 8.22% or 29.10 points to trade at 383.10 at the close. Meanwhile, MVideo (MCX:MVID) added 9.81% or 12.10 points to end at 135.50 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) was up 7.79% or 129.0 points to 1784.0 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which fell 5.08% or 3.200 points to trade at 59.800 at the close. Mos obl sb (MCX:MSRS) declined 2.80% or 0.0350 points to end at 1.2150 and E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) was down 2.68% or 0.0610 points to 2.2190.

The top performers on the MICEX were RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) which rose 8.22% to 383.10, MVideo (MCX:MVID) which was up 9.81% to settle at 135.50 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) which gained 7.79% to close at 1784.0.
The worst performers were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) which was down 5.08% to 59.800 in late trade, Mos obl sb (MCX:MSRS) which lost 2.80% to settle at 1.2150 and E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) which was down 2.68% to 2.2190 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 91 to 45 and 5 ended unchanged.

Gold for February delivery was up 0.81% or 9.60 to $1195.80 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.52% or 2.38 to hit $50.31 a barrel, while the February brent oil contract fell 6.04% or 3.40 to trade at $53.02 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 2.54% to 60.250, while EUR/RUB rose 1.85% to 71.818.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.35% at 91.79.
