Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Manufacturing, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Sollers (MCX:SVAV), which rose 5.08% or 23.0 points to trade at 476.0 at the close. Meanwhile, AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) added 2.59% or 3100 points to end at 123000 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) was up 2.22% or 13.70 points to 630.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO), which fell 7.12% or 730.0 points to trade at 9530.0 at the close. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) declined 4.42% or 17.00 points to end at 367.50 and PIK (MCX:PIKK) was down 3.62% or 7.50 points to 199.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 108 to 79 and 8 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 8.03% to 35.770.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.11% or 1.30 to $1186.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.38% or 0.22 to hit $57.81 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.69% or 1.07 to trade at $62.65 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.73% to 51.815, while EUR/RUB rose 2.00% to 56.382.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 97.52.
