Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Construction & Materials and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which rose 3.33% or 0.30 points to trade at 9.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Gemalto (AMS:GTO) added 1.02% or 0.80 points to end at 79.42 and Ahold Kon (AMS:AHLN) was up 0.54% or 0.10 points to 19.52 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Philips Kon (AMS:PHG), which fell 2.23% or 0.61 points to trade at 26.91 at the close. NN Group (AMS:NN) declined 2.09% or 0.58 points to end at 27.23 and OCI (AMS:OCI) was down 1.95% or 0.610 points to 30.685.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 146 to 98 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ahold Kon (AMS:AHLN) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 0.54% or 0.10 to 19.52.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 8.15% to 18.08.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 3.18% or 1.65 to $53.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.96% or 1.16 to hit $60.20 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.58% or 6.90 to trade at $1192.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.91% to 1.0663, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.7217.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.82% at 98.92.
