Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 1.09%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AMS:ATCA), which rose 2.93% or 0.69 points to trade at 24.24 at the close. Meanwhile, Akzo Nobel (AMS:AKZO) added 2.75% or 1.64 points to end at 61.29 and Aegon (AMS:AEGN) was up 2.62% or 0.142 points to 5.556 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which fell 0.92% or 0.09 points to trade at 9.36 at the close. ASML Holding (AMS:ASML) declined 0.86% or 0.72 points to end at 82.65 and NN Group (AMS:NN) was down 0.76% or 0.20 points to 25.43.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 117 to 54 and 4 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.75% to 28.89.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.55% or 0.71 to $45.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.83% or 0.91 to hit $48.62 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.53% or 17.10 to trade at $1103.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.47% to 1.1150, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.7257.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 96.31.
