Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty fell 1.11% to hit a new 3-months low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.07%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were NMDC Ltd (NSE:NMDC), which rose 3.37% or 4.20 points to trade at 128.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NSE:ONGC) added 2.89% or 8.90 points to end at 316.85 and Cairn India Limited (NSE:CAIL) was up 2.36% or 5.05 points to 218.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Infosys Ltd (NSE:INFY), which fell 5.98% or 126.80 points to trade at 1995.20 at the close. Tech Mahindra Limited (NSE:TEML) declined 4.50% or 27.70 points to end at 587.50 and Cipla Ltd. (NSE:CIPL) was down 3.96% or 26.30 points to 637.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 2.60% to 315.80, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 1.92% to settle at 3561.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 1.63% to close at 2496.90.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 5.95% to 1996.25 in late trade, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which lost 3.89% to settle at 637.80 and Sesa Sterlite Ltd (BO:SESA) which was down 3.16% to 205.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1205 to 210 and 10 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 499 fell and 89 advanced, while 1 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 3.27% to 19.1050 a new 1-month high.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.25% or 3.00 to $1191.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.20% or 0.12 to hit $57.62 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.99% or 0.65 to trade at $65.50 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.48% to 63.580, while EUR/INR rose 0.61% to 68.9080.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 97.36.
