Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Oil & Gas and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.19%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN), which rose 2.66% or 22.30 points to trade at 861.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 1.50% or 35.90 points to end at 2437.00 and Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) was up 1.27% or 19.00 points to 1513.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE), which fell 2.18% or 5.90 points to trade at 264.50 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 1.69% or 2.60 points to end at 151.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was down 1.67% or 5.35 points to 315.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 1.24% to 2430.70, Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which was up 1.17% to settle at 484.40 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 0.54% to close at 770.50.
The worst performers were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which was down 2.19% to 149.80 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 2.01% to settle at 314.00 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which was down 1.99% to 1439.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 812 to 668 and 66 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1400 fell and 1240 advanced, while 205 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.16% to 14.2500.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.22% or 2.95 to $1341.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.35% or 0.62 to hit $45.31 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.69 to trade at $47.24 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.20% to 66.483, while EUR/INR fell 0.28% to 74.7660.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 95.23.
