Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Real Estate and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.76%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.98%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 4.76% or 21.60 points to trade at 475.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) added 1.54% or 37.65 points to end at 2,475.00 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 1.17% or 3.30 points to 286.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART), which fell 2.79% or 100.50 points to trade at 3,499.00 at the close. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) declined 2.54% or 325.35 points to end at 12,480.00 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was down 2.18% or 63.90 points to 2,869.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which rose 0.71% to 6,332.85, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 0.70% to settle at 6,929.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 0.48% to close at 1,623.80.
The worst performers were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 2.71% to 3,500.00 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 2.21% to settle at 12,511.60 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 2.12% to 2,870.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1408 to 783 and 59 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2195 fell and 1491 advanced, while 120 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) rose to all time highs; up 1.54% or 37.65 to 2,475.00. Shares in Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.17% or 3.30 to 286.10.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 8.72% to 14.62 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.06% or 1.30 to $2,308.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.24% or 0.19 to hit $79.14 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.25 to trade at $83.92 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 83.44, while EUR/INR rose 0.20% to 89.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 105.09.
