Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Software, Technology and Media sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Chemicals and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.66%, while the MDAX index declined 0.62%, and the TecDAX index added 1.07%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Merck KGaA (DE:MRK), which rose 1.29% or 1.200 points to trade at 94.240 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 1.26% or 0.900 points to end at 72.520 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was up 1.04% or 0.790 points to 76.760 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which fell 4.19% or 3.970 points to trade at 90.810 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) declined 4.17% or 0.550 points to end at 12.645 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was down 3.95% or 3.480 points to 84.580.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which rose 5.13% to 38.660, Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which was up 3.03% to settle at 48.670 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which gained 1.41% to close at 43.605.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 11.50% to 32.205 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which lost 10.19% to settle at 54.750 and Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was down 2.90% to 54.731 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 7.52% to 44.470, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 4.08% to settle at 35.180 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which gained 3.31% to close at 18.440.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 8.15% to 44.305 in late trade, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which lost 0.52% to settle at 38.610 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 0.48% to 43.225 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 455 to 423 and 35 ended unchanged.
Shares in Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.08% or 1.380 to 35.180.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.75% to 19.68.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.31% or 3.75 to $1228.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.61% or 0.28 to hit $45.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.33 to trade at $46.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.0709, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8597.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 100.24.
