Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Chemicals and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.73%, while the MDAX index fell 0.76%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which rose 4.97% or 0.960 points to trade at 20.295 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) added 1.69% or 1.290 points to end at 77.560 and E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) was up 1.54% or 0.185 points to 12.180 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which fell 2.00% or 0.755 points to trade at 37.020 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) declined 1.58% or 0.375 points to end at 23.375 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) was down 1.40% or 0.160 points to 11.235.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which rose 3.64% to 13.255, Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which was up 1.35% to settle at 36.125 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which gained 0.82% to close at 34.555.
The worst performers were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was down 2.81% to 85.060 in late trade, LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which lost 2.03% to settle at 61.910 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which was down 1.77% to 20.805 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 5.71% to 21.400, PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was up 0.93% to settle at 10.800 and Bechtle AG O.N. (XETRA:BC8G) which gained 0.80% to close at 70.290.
The worst performers were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 3.28% to 148.750 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which lost 3.14% to settle at 3.953 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was down 2.58% to 8.510 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 448 to 286 and 42 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.14% or 0.128 to 3.953.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.11% to 27.09 a new 3-years high.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.52% or 6.10 to $1163.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.00% or 0.57 to hit $57.53 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.99% or 0.61 to trade at $62.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1097, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.7105.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 96.20.
