Germany stocks higher at close of trade

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Construction and Media sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.60%, while the MDAX index gained 1.26%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.89%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 3.30% or 0.920 points to trade at 28.815 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) added 2.66% or 0.266 points to end at 10.250 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 2.31% or 4.750 points to 210.750 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn), which fell 1.02% or 0.160 points to trade at 15.600 at the close. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 0.99% or 0.135 points to end at 13.440 and RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) was down 0.94% or 0.225 points to 23.810.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which rose 2.71% to 113.850, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which was up 2.70% to settle at 45.415 and Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which gained 2.69% to close at 42.205.

The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 1.28% to 13.115 in late trade, Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which lost 1.13% to settle at 6.835 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which was down 0.66% to 54.210 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which rose 4.86% to 116.600, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was up 2.98% to settle at 81.610 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which gained 2.84% to close at 18.130.

The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was down 1.39% to 38.010 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 0.95% to settle at 1.986 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 0.93% to 11.760 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 543 to 188 and 22 ended unchanged.

Shares in K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.30% or 0.920 to 28.815. Shares in Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.66% or 0.266 to 10.250. Shares in Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) rose to all time highs; rising 2.31% or 4.750 to 210.750. Shares in Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) rose to all time highs; rising 4.86% or 5.400 to 116.600.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.98% to 18.71.

Gold for April delivery was down 0.73% or 8.80 to $1199.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 2.78% or 1.51 to hit $52.78 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 2.50% or 1.56 to trade at $60.97 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.1340, while EUR/GBP fell 1.06% to 0.7353.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 94.59.
