Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.79% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which rose 4.21% or 0.66 points to trade at 16.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 3.02% or 0.16 points to end at 5.46 and Oi SA (SA:OIBR4) was up 2.87% or 0.18 points to 6.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which fell 6.11% or 0.50 points to trade at 7.68 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 5.27% or 0.37 points to end at 6.65 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was down 4.72% or 0.06 points to 1.21.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 207 to 89 and 2 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 8.87% to 31.56.
Gold for August delivery was down 1.42% or 17.10 to $1187.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.25% or 1.34 to hit $58.38 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 2.30% or 2.92 to trade at $124.22 .
USD/BRL was up 1.68% to 3.1511, while EUR/BRL rose 0.73% to 3.4272.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.96% at 97.39.
