Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Finance & Investment, Real Estate & Construction and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 1.97%, while the ADX General index fell 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 3.30% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.469 at the close. Meanwhile, Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) added 2.16% or 0.190 points to end at 8.990 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 1.73% or 0.009 points to 0.529 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which fell 8.33% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.20 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 7.85% or 0.049 points to end at 0.575 and Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) was down 5.06% or 0.330 points to 6.190.
The top performers on the ADX General were Methaq (AD:METH) which rose 4.55% to 0.920, Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which was up 3.43% to settle at 9.95 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which gained 2.47% to close at 0.830.
The worst performers were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 9.09% to 6.00 in late trade, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which lost 5.67% to settle at 3.16 and Ad Islamic Bk (AD:ADIB) which was down 2.95% to 4.27 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 20 to 8; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 12 fell and 9 advanced, while 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ad Islamic Bk (AD:ADIB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.95% or 0.13 to 4.27.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.27% or 1.03 to $44.38 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.66% or 0.82 to hit $48.73 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1139.60 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED fell 0.46% to 4.1362.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 95.73.
