United Arab Emirates stocks lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.97%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking, Consumer Staples and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.97%, while the ADX General index declined 1.00%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC), which rose 4.82% or 0.12 points to trade at 2.61 at the close. Meanwhile, National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) added 3.41% or 0.034 points to end at 1.030 and ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) was up 3.15% or 0.090 points to 2.950 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which fell 4.77% or 0.021 points to trade at 0.419 at the close. Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) declined 4.52% or 0.350 points to end at 7.400 and Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA) was down 2.68% or 0.030 points to 1.090.

The top performers on the ADX General were Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which rose 6.90% to 0.6200, Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was up 6.25% to settle at 0.510 and Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which gained 3.30% to close at 0.94.

The worst performers were National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which was down 9.93% to 4.90 in late trade, Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which lost 9.90% to settle at 5.28 and Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which was down 9.79% to 2.12 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 14 to 12 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 15 fell and 7 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged.

Shares in Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) fell to all time lows; falling 9.79% or 0.23 to 2.12.

Crude oil for March delivery was up 2.27% or 0.68 to $30.36 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 1.41% or 0.47 to hit $33.34 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.70% or 8.40 to trade at $1189.50 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.23% to 4.1205.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 96.50.
