Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Transport and Finance & Investment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.67%, while the ADX General index fell 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which rose 3.90% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.533 at the close. Meanwhile, National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) added 2.72% or 0.050 points to end at 1.890 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) was up 1.29% or 0.006 points to 0.470 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which fell 3.00% or 1.95 points to trade at 63.00 at the close. Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) declined 2.54% or 0.030 points to end at 1.150 and ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) was down 2.34% or 0.090 points to 3.750.
The top performers on the ADX General were Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which rose 14.46% to 0.9500, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was up 10.20% to settle at 2.700 and Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which gained 2.67% to close at 5.00.
The worst performers were Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which was down 8.86% to 0.720 in late trade, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which lost 5.26% to settle at 0.9000 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 3.85% to 0.750 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 21 to 12 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 15 rose and 11 declined, while 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.72% or 0.050 to 1.890. Shares in Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.85% or 0.030 to 0.750.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.42% or 0.21 to $50.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $51.55 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.46% or 5.75 to trade at $1269.45 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6728, while EUR/AED rose 0.02% to 3.9956.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 98.73.
