United Arab Emirates stocks higher at close of trade; DFM General up 0.05%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Transport and Real Estate & Construction sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.05%, while the ADX General index added 0.93%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which rose 3.70% or 0.040 points to trade at 1.120 at the close. Meanwhile, DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE) added 3.31% or 0.050 points to end at 1.560 and Emaar Malls (DU:EMAA) was up 1.14% or 0.030 points to 2.670 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI), which fell 2.33% or 0.011 points to trade at 0.462 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 1.55% or 0.008 points to end at 0.509 and Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) was down 1.49% or 0.030 points to 1.990.

The top performers on the ADX General were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which rose 5.41% to 0.390, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was up 2.63% to settle at 0.780 and Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which gained 1.89% to close at 2.690.

The worst performers were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 3.70% to 1.56 in late trade, Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which lost 1.79% to settle at 0.550 and Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 1.22% to 0.810 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 17 to 14 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 12 rose and 6 declined, while 6 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.31% or 0.66 to $50.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.28% or 0.66 to hit $52.34 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.58% or 7.35 to trade at $1270.25 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6728, while EUR/AED rose 0.06% to 4.0344.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 97.78.
