Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 3.45%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Repsol (MC:REP), which rose 7.38% or 0.775 points to trade at 11.280 at the close. Meanwhile, Telefonica (MC:TEF) added 6.26% or 0.491 points to end at 8.329 and Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) was up 6.03% or 0.79 points to 13.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bankia (MC:BKIA), which fell 2.28% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.642 at the close. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 1.40% or 0.017 points to end at 1.199 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) was down 0.85% or 0.085 points to 9.925.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 157 to 34 and 14 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.71% or 9.40 to $1327.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.90% or 1.39 to hit $49.24 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.86% or 1.41 to trade at $50.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1103, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.8233.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.40% at 95.81.
