Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mining and Manufacturing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR), which rose 3.36% or 0.0254 points to trade at 0.7814 at the close. Meanwhile, Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC) added 1.74% or 1.100 points to end at 64.400 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) was up 1.46% or 0.0130 points to 0.9039 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which fell 4.98% or 38.30 points to trade at 730.40 at the close. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) declined 2.89% or 9.70 points to end at 325.50 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was down 2.79% or 0.865 points to 30.140.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 115 to 100 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC) rose to all time highs; rising 1.74% or 1.100 to 64.400. Shares in Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.79% or 0.865 to 30.140.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.53% to 27.600.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.47% or 6.25 to $1319.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.35% or 0.59 to hit $44.17 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.09% or 0.96 to trade at $46.81 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.57% to 64.7839, while EUR/RUB fell 0.72% to 72.801.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 95.36.
