Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which rose 3.79% or 29.00 points to trade at 795.00 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) added 3.64% or 0.0920 points to end at 2.6200 and Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST) was up 3.06% or 29.0 points to 978.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which fell 5.56% or 0.0353 points to trade at 0.5997 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 4.74% or 1.220 points to end at 24.500 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) was down 3.65% or 105.0 points to 2775.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 118 to 100 and 20 ended unchanged.
Shares in Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.79% or 29.00 to 795.00.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.38% to 34.470.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.55% or 6.75 to $1210.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.47% or 0.23 to hit $48.87 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.32% or 0.16 to trade at $49.73 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.47% to 67.0088, while EUR/RUB rose 0.80% to 74.820.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.52.
