Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Power and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were MMK (MCX:MAGN), which rose 4.60% or 0.910 points to trade at 20.700 at the close. Meanwhile, NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) added 3.46% or 2.78 points to end at 83.21 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was up 3.22% or 4800 points to 154000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sberbank (MCX:SBER), which fell 2.61% or 1.96 points to trade at 73.20 at the close. FSK EES (MCX:FEES) declined 2.23% or 0.0015 points to end at 0.0655 and MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) was down 2.18% or 18.00 points to 807.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 113 to 97 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in MMK (MCX:MAGN) rose to 3-years highs; up 4.60% or 0.910 to 20.700. Shares in AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) rose to all time highs; up 3.22% or 4800 to 154000.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.17% to 36.090.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.35% or 3.90 to $1108.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.98% or 1.79 to hit $43.17 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.01% or 1.53 to trade at $49.48 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 2.26% to 64.342, while EUR/RUB rose 2.22% to 70.978.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 97.35.
