Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 1.37%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 6.00% or 1.200 points to trade at 21.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) added 5.23% or 5.91 points to end at 119.00 and Rosneft (MCX:ROSN) was up 4.79% or 15.35 points to 336.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which fell 2.74% or 20.50 points to trade at 726.50 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 1.96% or 3300 points to end at 164700 and MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) was down 1.75% or 148.0 points to 8300.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 108 to 107 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.23% or 5.91 to 119.00.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.68% to 34.420.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.39% or 5.05 to $1289.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.64% or 1.28 to hit $49.84 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.70% or 1.33 to trade at $50.50 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.12% to 64.1215, while EUR/RUB fell 0.86% to 72.492.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.57% at 93.76.
