Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.87%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC), which rose 10.83% or 5.200 points to trade at 53.200 at the close. Meanwhile, FSK EES (MCX:FEES) added 6.48% or 0.0045 points to end at 0.0733 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 5.55% or 3.68 points to 69.98 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which fell 1.72% or 0.430 points to trade at 24.600 at the close. Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) declined 1.54% or 40.0 points to end at 2565.0 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) was down 1.18% or 0.215 points to 17.995.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 126 to 103 and 17 ended unchanged.

The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 3.22% to 36.830 a new 1-month low.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.06% or 0.70 to $1230.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 4.02% or 1.46 to hit $37.80 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 3.07% or 1.19 to trade at $39.93 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.66% to 70.5819, while EUR/RUB fell 0.67% to 78.188.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 96.87.
